Nikon D80 vs D90 vs D300

Spotcoolstuff has done very well comparison of these three cameras Nikon D80, D90 & D300.
They rightly said that "What camera novice would guess that the Nikon D200 be a more advanced camera than the D60 but less advanced than the lower-numbered D3 ?" ;-))

In simple language they explained the differences among these cameras.

"The Nikon D300 feels exactly like a professional camera should. While the D80 and D90 are made from polycarbonate and D300 is forged from a rugged magnesium alloy. Crucially, the D300 includes enhanced weather protection. And the difference is more than skin deep: The D300 is made from superior parts giving it a shutter life expectancy that’s 50% longer than that of the D80/90.

In short: the Nikon D80 and D90 are well built cameras. The D300 is built even better."

Canon PowerShot G11 review

Click for: Just posted - Canon PowerShot G11 reviewJust posted! Review of the Canon PowerShot G11. As per DP Review it is good for point and shoot armatures and has nice image quality under lighting situations.

The G11 is the company's flagship compact camera, offering a flexible zoom range, solid build and classic styling. This latest incarnation of the G-series regains the much lamented flip-out screen lost from its recent predecessors, it also uses a 'high sensitivity' CCD that could put right the G10's disappointing low-light performance.

Its reduced to 10 MegaPixel instead of 14 MP of G10 and in turn ISO sensitivity raised upto 3200.

I personally liked its image quality, beautiful images like these samples Galleries Link. But disappointing at night time shooting.

Specifications.

  • 10.0 Megapixel CCD sensor
  • 5x wide-angle (28-140mm equivalent) zoom lens with optical image stabilizer
  • 2.8” tilt/swivel LCD (461k dot resolution)
  • RAW image recording
  • Claimed 2-stop advantage in low light compared to G10
  • Dedicated Exposure Compensation and ISO dials
  • DIGIC 4 processor
  • i-Contrast boosts brightness and retains detail in dark areas
  • 26 shooting modes with manual control and custom settings
  • Accessories include tele-converter, Speedlights flashes and waterproof case
  • VGA movies, 30fps

Good=RAW Image recording & LCD Tilt & Swivel
but only VGA movie no HD?

Changes compared to G10

  • 10 megapixel 'high sensitivity' sensor, down from 14.7 megapixels
  • Gains ISO 3200 as full setting (Rather than option-limited scene mode)
  • White balance fine tuning
  • Tilt and swivel LCD 2.8" (rather than 3" fixed screen)
  • New Low Light and Quick Shot modes
  • HDMI connector
  • No Superfine JPEG compression (Fine is least compressed option)
  • No voice annotation or sound recording function
  • No remote (tethered) image capture
